Asteroidea

Liz McGowan and Margie Britz

Twenty three years after it was made, Asteroidea, a 7 foot diameter of starfish, is returning to Salthouse Church where it will hang in front of the east window. These sea creatures have been taken from the depths of the sea and thrown up into the sky as a constellation. As above, so below.

Evolving from and revolving around Asteroidea we are offering a series of events:

Join us for the opening of Asteroidea.  At dusk Hugh Lupton will tell the story of Orion, with improvised sound, projection and voice by Aether (Maria Pavledis, Cat Jones, Marian Saunders, Dave Farmer and Jillian Bain Christie).  No booking required!

Divers Rob Spray and Dawn Watson will give an illustrated talk of the wonders of the Norfolk chalk reef including the extraordinary lives of starfish.  They will also offer a seaweed pressing activity.  £5 per adult, children free.  Booking essential.

Bring your favourite poems about the sea and the stars to read and share.  Chaired by Hugh Lupton.   Free, booking essential.

Creative writing workshop Phil Barrett, inspired by Asteroidea.  4-5.30. Do come along and join the group for refreshments at 5.30 and listen to what they have written. Free, booking essential.

Please join us for a seated meal in the aisle of the church – everyone brings a contribution to share.  At dusk we will celebrate the end of the exhibition with ritual, projected moving image, and sound curated by Charlotte Arculus and Rachel Wright.  You can participate with sound, movement and drawing.  Free, booking essential.
